Revision History:

Oct. 29, 2022: p. 2: In the sample sentence about not eating like an animal at a trough, I changed the Japanese and English a bit. The biggest problem was that つつく (to peck at (one’s food)) is for birds, and the trough suggests livestock, so つつく is no longer in the sentence.

Feb. 12, 2022:

  • p. 2, Etymology Box: Updated the Henshall etymology and Sears link.
  • p. 12: Updated all definitions of kanji featuring the 皿 radical or component, as well as their Henshall etymologies!
  • p. 13: Added a link to the Kanshudo games.

Jan. 28, 2017:

  • p. 6: Removed a broken link.
  • p. 7: Fixed a mistake in the discussion of めいめい.
