Seattle native Christopher Acheson is a graduate student at the London School of Economics and Political Science, pursuing a degree in international relations. He completed his undergraduate education at the University of Washington, majoring in both Japan studies and political science. He spent a year studying at Waseda University in Tokyo. He would like to become a professor so he can continue to study Japan. When he's not inside a classroom or the local coffee shop, Christopher enjoys taking pictures. He has traveled to many places in Japan, and his blog charts those adventures with photos and commentary. His favorite thing to do when visiting a new city is to take public transportation somewhere and to get completely lost. He feels that finding his way back, talking to random people on the street, and taking photos of anything he discovers are always worth the extra time. His favorite kanji is 仙 (せん: hermit). Not only does Christopher love the mountains (山) but 仙 was also the kanji he immediately encountered while browsing his first kanji dictionary.
