Emi Montesa grew up in Chiba Prefecture (near Tokyo Disneyland) and moved to the United States in 2006. She lives in El Cerrito, California, close to where Eve lives. This is the first time Emi has lived outside of Japan. She had a tough time adjusting.
While surfing the Net one day, she found out about Quilts4Japan, which Eve co-founded to help victims of the East Japan earthquake in 2011. Quilting is Emi's hobby, so she donated a quilt, and Eve then asked her to help with Joy o’ Kanji. Emi once wanted to teach Japanese as a second language, so she was really happy and excited!
Her favorite kanji is 絵 (drawing, picture).This is a part of her name, and she loves her name.
