Junko Soda was born in Naruto City, which is in Tokushima Prefecture on the island of Shikoku. When she was in high school, her family moved to many places in Yamaguchi and Hiroshima Prefectures, which are on the western side of Honshu, the main Japanese island. Now she lives in Tsukuba City. She obtained her bachelor's degree in American literature from Tsuda College. Her husband and she have lived or stayed in several cities in the United States, Australia, France, and Germany. She loves getting to know different people and different cultures. Junko teaches English to children, high school students, and businesspeople. She likes cooking and eating good food. She particularly loves chocolate and feels sure that she can't live without it! She is also interested in the tea ceremony and in Western painting, especially the works of the Impressionists. Her favorite kanji is 純 (じゅん: purity) because it's part of her given name.
