Supporter and Consultant
Born in 1978, Mariano Quintana is from Buenos Aires, Argentina, and is married to Natalia Bourlot. He started studying Japanese in 2001, even though it's extremely difficult to find material about Japanese in Buenos Aires, particularly texts about kanji. People often ask him why he chose Japanese over all the languages he could have picked. He responds that kanji drew him to the language and that the addictive power of kanji keeps him hooked. He explains, "It's like poison, a sweet poison. I can't stop studying it." Through kanji studies, he continues to learn about the Japanese culture and language. Mariano would have to say that his favorite kanji is the one he doesn't yet know, because pursuing that knowledge prompts him to keep studying kanji.
